Track :1 Oral Epidemiology

Oral Epidemiology is the study of distribution and determinants of health related states and events in specified populations and the application of this study to control the oral health problems. Epidemiology is the science that studies the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations. It is the cornerstone of public health, and shapes policy decisions and evidence-based practice by identifying risk factors for disease and targets for preventive healthcare. Epidemiology is the study of how often diseases occur in different groups of people and why. Epidemiological information is used to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent illness and as a guide to the management of patients in whom disease has already developed.

Track : 2 Oral Cancer

Oral cancer often begins with an asymptomatic stage during which symptoms may not be obvious, it is often painless initially and therefore difficult to detect. Oral cancer treatment is usually successful when performed in the early stages, any abnormal change in the mouth, gums, tongue, or surrounding area should be evaluated by a dental professional immediately. A consistent build up of plaque and tartar leads to oral cancer and Nutritional deficiencies implicated as risk factor Diet low in fruits & vegetables implicated in cancers of mouth, larynx, and oesophagus. Diet low in vitamin A has been linked to oral  cancer in some studies Iron deficiency associated with Plummer-Vinson syndrome causes an elevated risk for squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus, oropharynx and posterior mouth. It is estimated that tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking combined account for approximately ¾ of all oral and pharyngeal cancers in the U.S.

Track:3 Periodontics

Periodontics  is caused by bacteria in dental plaque. Damage from periodontal disease also can cause teeth to become loose. This is a sign of severe periodontitis (the advanced stage of disease). NECROTISING ULCERATIVE GINGIVITIS (NUG) AND PERIODONTITIS (NUP) Necrotising ulcerative gingivitis is a painful ulceration of the tips of the interdental papillae with grey necrotic tissue visible on the surface of the ulcers. GINGIVITIS is plaque-induced inflammation of the gingivae, recognised by erythema and oedema, bleeding on brushing or probing, and perhaps detachment of the gingivae from the teeth. GINGIVAL HYPERPLASIA is thickening of the gingivae due to proliferation of cells within the tissue. PERIODONTAL ABSCESS is an acute infection in a periodontal pocket is a common occurrence. People with diabetes are more likely to get periodontitis than people without diabetes.

Track:4 Oral Syndromes

Oral Syndromes includes   immune-mediated attack on the salivary and lacrimal glands leads to the development of xerostomia (dry mouth) which takes place in association with lymphocytic infiltration of the glands. That inflammatory process eventually severely damages or destroys the glands. On the other hand cause of Sjögren’s syndrome is unknown, it is believed to be under the influence of a combination of genetic, environmental and several other factors, as is the case with many other autoimmune disorders whereas Oral-facial-digital syndrome is actually a group of related conditions that affect the development of the oral cavity (the mouth and teeth), facial features, and digits (fingers and toes). . Oral-facial-digital (OFD) syndrome is the collective name of a group of rare inherited syndromes characterized by malformations of the face, oral cavity, hands and feet. OFD syndrome type I, also known as the Papillon-League-Psaume syndrome warrants our attention because early diagnosis from an odontologic viewpoint will minimize the sequalae of developing physical and dental abnormalities. Crouzons and Apert’s  syndrome is  an autosomal inheritance, mutation in fibroblast growth factor gene (chromosome 10). William’s syndrome is caused due to deletion of elastin gene on chromosome 7.

Track:5 Modern Dentistry

Modern Dentistry involves CAD/CAM technology helps dentists and dental lab technicians specify precise shapes and sizes for the fabrication of dental restorations, including inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges.. Some view laser dentistry as a precise and effective way to perform many dental procedures. Those who want extreme safety and comfort may choose a laser dentistry option. The potential for laser dentistry to improve dental treatment comes from the precision with which lasers can treat a specific area, the control that laser dentists have over power output and the duration of exposure on oral tissues. Sedation Modalities: The sedative methods used for sedation dentistry vary in strength and purpose. Your dentist will select the sedation dentistry option that is best for you based on the treatments performed, how long these procedures will take and your level of anxiety.  Sports dentistry involves prevention of injury to the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, through the use of properly fitted mouth guards.

Track :6 Types and Uses of Digital Dental Radiographs

Tools like Digital dental radiographs can be taken inside (intraoral) or outside (extraoral) the mouth.  Intraoral X-rays include: Bitewing X-rays, which are taken with the patient biting down on film, show details of the upper and lower teeth in one area of the mouth.  Periapical X-rays are used to detect root structure and surrounding bone structure abnormality Extra oral X-rays include : Panoramic (Panorex) X-rays, which require a machine that rotates around the head, show the entire mouth, including all the teeth in the upper and lower arch, in one image. Multi-slice computed tomography (MCT) shows a particular layer or "slice" of the mouth while blurring all other layers. This type of X-ray is useful for examining structures that are difficult to see clearly. Cephalometric projections, which show the entire head, help examine teeth in relation to a patient's jaw and profile. Orthodontists, specialists in aligning and straightening teeth, use cephalometric projections to develop their treatment plans. Sialography uses a dye (radiopaque contrast agent) injected into the salivary glands to visualize them on the X-ray film.

Track : 7 Dental Biomaterial Science:

Dentistry is often defined as the evaluation, diagnosis, prevention and/or treatment (nonsurgical, surgical or related procedures) of diseases, or conditions of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area and/or the adjacent and associated structures and their impact on the human body. Research within biomaterials science aims to develop an enhanced mechanistic understanding of reasons for the clinical success or failure of oral and craniofacial biomaterials. A major focus is upon varied types ofcomposite materials with photo-polymerised resin or RM-GIC matrices, including model systems of well-defined chemistry.

Track:8 Endodontics

Endodontic is a dental speciality which deals with the dental pulp. Root canal therapy is one of the common procedures followed in endodontic treatments. Also includes treatment of cracked teeth and dental trauma. Endodontic treatment is done to save the teeth from diseased dental pulp. Successful Endodontic  root canal therapy depends on the elimination of the microorganism from the root canal system through the use of Diode laser  in the root canal therapy .Nickel-titanium (NiTi) Rotary files to Endodontics  almost changed the way root canal preparation are performed. Regenerative endodontics uses the concept of tissue engineering to restore the root canals to a healthy. Most  endodontists  offer tremendous flexibility in accommodating emergency cases, so delays in treatment are kept to a minimum and patients can be relieved of dental pain quickly. Many endodontists use state-of-the-art technology such as operating microscopes, digital imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation and fiber optics, to treat their patients quickly and comfortably. Today, getting root canal treatment is often no more uncomfortable than having a filling.

Track :9 Dental Anaesthesiology

Anaesthesia enables the painless performance of medical procedures that would cause severe or intolerable pain to an anaesthetized patient. General anaesthesia suppresses central nervous system activity and results in Related Conferences : 12th International Conference on Dental Medicine , Toronto,Canada Aug 8-10, 2016 .International Conference on Periodontics and ProsthodonticsJune, New Orleans, USA, 27-28, 2016. 11th Asia Pacific Dental Congress Dental Congress-2016, Bangkok, Thailand July 25-27, 2016. 5th The European Society Of Microscopic Dentistry, Lithuania IFEA 21-23 April 2016 , World Endodontic Congress Cape Town, South Africa. unconsciousness and total lack of sensation.. Dissociative anaesthesia inhibits transmission of nerve impulses between the cerebral cortex and limbic system, which inhibits both anxiety and creation of long-term memories. Conduction anaesthesia, commonly known as regional or local  anaesthesia,   blocks transmission of nerve impulses between a targeted part of the body and the spinal cord, which causes loss of sensation in the targeted body part. . There are many types of regional anaesthesia   either by injecting into the tissue itself, a vein that feeds the area or around a nerve trunk that supplies sensation to the area. The latter are called nerve blocks and are divided into peripheral or central nerve blocks. Nitrous oxide is the most commonly used inhalation Anaesthetic in dentistry and is commonly used in emergency centres and ambulatory surgery centres as well. Oral Sedation is generally given to children below 3years of age.

Track : 12 Oral Microbiology and Pathology:

Oral microbiology is a complex ecological system where upto 700 species of microorganisms that have been identified .Some of the predominant groups present in the mouth include Streptococcus, Neisseria, Veillonella, Actinomyces and other obligate anaerobes . These organisms maintain a mutualistic relationship with the host by preventing pathogenic species from adhering to the mucosal surface . Oral microflorae can cause dental plaques and are also a common cause dental caries and periodontal disease . Oral disease in an individual can be caused due to a combination of lack of oral hygieneand factors influencing the oral microbial community structure, such as diet. An understanding of the oral environment and microbial interactions leads to understanding the main causes for the onset of oral diseases.

As the seat of the National Parliament, it is also the legislative capital of the country. It forms part of the City of Cape Townme tropolitan municipality. The city is famous for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, as well as for such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. As of 2014 it is the 10th most populous city in Africa and home to 64% of the Western Cape's population.[6] It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, reflecting its role as a major destination for immigrants and expatriates[7] to South Africa. The city was named the World Design Capital for 2014 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design.[8] In 2014, Cape Town was named the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times[9] and The Telegraph.[10]

Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town was first developed by the Dutch East India Company as a victualling (supply) station for Dutch ships sailing to East AfricaIndia, and the Far EastJan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town quickly outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in South Africa.
